Position Purpose:

Under minimal supervision, the QC tech II will follow through on set processes and ensure adherence to best production practices and product quality standards, as well as monitoring the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of product output. Normally the QC tech II receives little instructions on day to day and receives general instructions on new projects.

Essential Duties:

  • Monitors ISO QMS, HACCP process, cGMPs plans through daily routines and inspects the final bottle package following customer requirements
  • Tests and approves the wine quality in the bottle following micro and analytical techniques and processes
  • Controls and allocates nonconforming product using the SAP protocols and tools for inventory
  • Prepares reports for external and internal customers including fill test and analytical results for compliance and micro results for external customers
  • Compiles statistical data, measures, reports results, and investigates root causes for investigating root causes onvestigating root causes of Donald operate the boiler within a new required NOx signer and operat problem solving for any of the five Quality Pillars (HACCP, Micro, CI , Analytical and GMPs)
  • Performs all duties of QC Technician I when production demands dictate the need

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Assists with incoming material testing program
  • Monitors inventory and orders lab supplies when needed
  • Pulls cellar samples for analysis; performs swabs on specific areas for further analysis
  • Performs process capability and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) analysis
  • Provides support to DFV mobile bottling location

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • College Degree (preferably in a science-related major)
  • Equivalent 4+ years of experience in positions requiring excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and strong organizational skills
  • Microbiology experience is recommended but not required
  • Basic Engineering concepts is recommended but not required
  • Knowledge on Lean and Problem solving will be desirable

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Standard winery chemical analytical techniques and instruments such as Aeration Oxidation Apparatus for testing sulfur dioxide. Standard packaging quality control instrumentation such as those used for the analysis of glass, corks, and labels
  • Skilled in quality processes and statistical techniques and knowledgeable about measurement and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) concepts is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and an aptitude for working with data
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft outlook, excel and Power Point.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Acceptable driving history with valid Driver’s License

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to climb stairways, work at heights up to 45 feet, and job walk as needed
  • May require standing and walking for up to 40-85% of the time  

Working Conditions:

  • General manufacturing plant work
  • At times, may work in noisy and dirty conditions
  • May be required to travel between job sites for project oversight
