Operations Assistant (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

Position

This position is responsible for maintaining an efficient, safe, qualitative, and enjoyable work experience for those in production. Being flexible and adaptive to the changing priorities of management and other departments is essential. Respecting and upholding stylistic wine and business goals is expected at all times.

Reporting Requirements

This position reports to the Bottling Manager with key interactions with the Assistant Winemaker, Enologist, and Shipping & Inventory Coordinator.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Fulfill deadlines set in weekly meetings with Bottling Manager

• Maintain daily cleanliness/appearance of Cellar 9 and Bottling Line

• Maintain a sanitary working environment, protecting the integrity of juice, wine, and cased goods

• Operate the bottling line in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining an efficient work-pace 

• Perform Bottling QC checks and complete hourly and daily bottling paperwork

• Perform Bottling Sterility and complete associated paperwork

• Perform Bottling line lubrication and inspections according to the published procedure

• Perform Bottling line maintenance in coordination with Bottling Manager, and the Director of Facilities

• Lead and monitor packaging crew to ensure all packing procedures and protocols are fulfilled

• Perform packaging QC checks on all incoming bottling packaging, rejecting any substandard products

• Assist with bottling setup of packaging and record-keeping 

• Purchasing agent for assigned supplies

• Forklift operation

• Fill in as required for the Shipping and Inventory Coordinator

• Maintain Packaging Supplies in PC Blend

• Maintain correspondence with production staff in a fashion that maximizes department efficiency

• Assist in warehouse activities: Wine Club Packing, Order processing, shipments and other processes as needed.

• Assist in cellar and harvest activities as needed.

• Be able to work in a dynamic environment

• Other Duties as assigned

Desired Results

• Expedient information flow to Bottling Manager and staff when requested

• Request for timeline extension in advance to deadline

• Safe working practices especially when working on ladders and operating forklift

• Bottling documentation, and work orders are thorough and up to date

• Precision and accuracy of bottling are within expectations/ variances and communicated to supervisor

• Bottled packaging is accurate

• GMP, HACCP, and department procedures fulfilled at all times

• Cellar 9 and warehouse are presentable for tours at all times

• Minimal to no product, material, and or utility waste/loss

Professional Requirements

• College Degree

• Production experience

• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently as well as with a team

• Ability to lift 45 lbs. 

• Capable of being trained in Forklift and Respirator use and certification
