Assistant Winemaker - Winery Operations (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Job Description/Qualifications
We are looking for an energetic individual who is a creative problem solver, goal oriented, organized, focused and with a business mind for developing new revenue. You will be actively involved in key aspects of the business, including working directly with the winemaker with blending, cellar operations and winery to winery sales and marketing. Located in Lodi, California we are a small, family owned winery with a focus on Méthode Champenoise sparkling wines.

Education
AA degree required, preferably with emphasis in agriculture/viticulture
BA/ BS in enology preferred

Essential Functions
•  Manage purchase logistics/production of wine through bottling and shipping.
•  Manage cellar workers per company guidelines.
•  Delineate all cellar functions into written protocols.
•  Write work orders as required.
•  Light repairs and equipment maintenance 
•  Set up/manage bottling/labeling of case goods.
•  Make materials purchase requisitions

General Duties
•  Develop and execute weekly and monthly goals and objectives.
•  Work directly with manager to develop business contacts/leads and follow-up
•  Assist and coordinate with manager on promotions and events.
•  Understand winemaking techniques and respond professionally and knowledgeably to client/customer questions and address specific needs.

Skills and/or Knowledge Required
•  Be able to respond to set objectives and goals in a positive manner and execute them effectively and efficiently.
•  Have wine related experience and a passion for wines of all types and varieties.
•  Working knowledge of wines and wine production.
•  Computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Sales Force and Google Drive.
•  Excellent verbal communication skills.
•  Strong written skills.
•  Excellent customer service skills.
•  Willing to work in an environment with changing priorities, maintaining a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
•  Demonstrate and maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
•  This position necessitates that an individual be versatile, flexible, able to prioritize, follow instructions and be well organized.
•  Be willing to assist in a variety of cross-department duties on an as needed basis.
