Casanel Vineyards & Winery is located at the foot of the Catoctin Mountain in Leesburg, Virginia & is a part of the Middleburg American Viticultural Area (AVA). We offer a peaceful setting surrounded by hardwood forests and ten acres of grape vines. We grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Chardonnay, Norton, Pinot Gris, and Petit Verdot grapes on our estate and produce our wines from them as well. Owners Casey & Nelson DeSouza take great pride in the newly-constructed winery and hand-renovated 1800s stone barn club room. Their daughters, Anna & Katie, both help manage the tasting room, private events, and wine production for Casanel.

We are seeking a part-time Tasting Room Associate/Wine Educator to join our team in the tasting room for the Harvest Season! All of our staff members are wine nerds & wine enthusiasts with a passion to share their knowledge and hospitality with others. We are looking for similar minded individuals who are willing to work between 2-4 weekend days a month and some holidays. Additional hours are available as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent tastings to general public and club members
  • Sales-help our wines be adopted to a happy cellar
  • Greet guests with a friendly and welcoming attitude
  • Honesty-never provide false information to guests
  • Be a professional & positive ambassador for Casanel and dedicated to our customers
  • Communicate & collaborate with other staff members effectively
  • Cleanliness-help maintain wine bar, tasting room, and kitchen space
  • Uphold the policies of the winery and Virginia ABC laws

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in wine, retail, or hospitality is a plus
  • 21+ please
  • TIPs, ServeSafe, or other alcohol safety certifications a plus
  • WSET, CSW, or CWE certifications or trainings a plus
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to learn Point of Sale system
  • Ability to build rapport with club members & general public
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to be flexible and thrive in a fun, fast-paced environment

Salary: $9.00 /hour
