THE OPPORTUNITY:

Sommelier
An immediate opportunity exists for a proven restaurant professional with the ability to maintain our high standards of quality and guest satisfaction. We offer great opportunities to build and grow into a hospitality professional while maintaining friendly and enjoyable work environments.
 

 

THE REQUIREMENTS:

The Sommelier is a member of the management staff and oversees all wine and liquor management, including purchasing, updating wine lists, conducting educational seminars, and attending special wine events. Sommelier is responsible for maintaining set budgets and is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • First Level Sommelier Certificate required with advanced level achieved or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years in the foodservice industry.
  • Assist guests during service with wine selection.
  • Assist fellow management staff in all service duties.
  • Purchase wine, liquor and beer.
  • Revise all wine and liquor lists, as needed, maintaining them in first-class condition.
  • Advise management on new wine buying by the bottle and glass.
  • Conduct weekly inventory of wine, liquor and beer.
  • Maintain inventory within targeted costs and provide anticipated costs for future budgets.
  • Attend all wine tasting dinners as lead person.
  • Conduct monthly wine or liquor seminar (1 hour in length) to educate staff.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with managers reviewing wine/liquor questions and problems.
  • Assemble wine lists for catering with cost of 18% of less.
  • Complete full description of wines for Director of Catering to enable better selling.
  • Recommend 2-4 wines for selling with rotation every six months.
  • Recommend to managers quantity buying.
