Stottle Winery, a boutique winery making ultra premium wines in Lacey, Washington has an immediate opening for a full time cellar master for our winery & tasting room in Lacey, WA.

Cellar Master - Position Summary
We are seeking a full time cellar master to be based at winery and tasting room in Lacey, WA. Work will be approximately 85% wine making, with 15% tasting room and other duties. Qualified applicants will have a friendly and welcoming personality, a love of wine, strong wine making education and/or experience, good work ethic, and ability to happily educate customers. We are looking for an articulate, self-motivated, highly organized, customer service oriented person who is available to work weekdays, weekends, and some evenings. Typical work week will be Wed – Sun, 10-6pm, although days and hours are somewhat flexible.

This position will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of wine making, as well as providing tastings, winery tours, educating guests, and assisting with running the tasting room when needed. This is a full time flex time position with an average of 40 hours per week. Work days and hours may vary depending on need, so a somewhat flexible schedule is required. 

FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:
•  Assist with every aspect of wine making from crush to bottling. Including grape processing from picking bins to receiving tanks; operation of crush equipment and press; conducting pumpovers and punch downs; assisting with additions to juice and wine; performing sanitation and cleaning procedures; draining and pressing tanks, including shoveling pomace; racking barrels; filling barrels; transferring wine; assist with bottling; lab work; record keeping; forklift operation.
•  Pours wines for tasting, discusses wine, and responds to customer questions as appropriate. 
•  Educate guests about our wines and the grape growing/winemaking process. 
•  Effectively promotes and sells wine and Wine Club memberships to customers.
•  Handles purchasing transactions, including operating cash register.
•  Account for wine inventory including: monthly inventory counts, stocking wines, and accounting for tasting wines opened.
•  Maintain order and cleanliness in the tasting room & winery.
•  Participates and helps organize special hospitality events that occur at the winery, including weekend and evening requirements. Represents winery at outside functions as required.
•  Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•  Possesses prior experience in a wine making capacity at a commercial winery and/or completed a wine making certificate or degree program. Preferably both.
•  Shows commitment to excellence, high standards, and attention to detail.
•  Possesses a solid knowledge of wines, grape growing, winemaking processes, and willingness to learn.
•  Consistently demonstrates outstanding customer service skills, poise, and tact in working with the public.
•  Proven ability to effectively and appropriately communicate with diverse group of visitors.
•  Possesses professional appearance and demeanor and can dress up or down as needed. 
•  Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and point of sale software/systems is also desired.
•  Ability to balance multiple competing tasks.
•  Strong math skills.
•  Is flexible, can learn quickly and manage constantly changing priorities and tasks with eagerness.
•  Must be at least 21 years of age.
•  You will need your WASLCB Servers Permit Class 12 to before you begin.
•  Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, and some evenings. Schedules will be set at least a week or more in advance. A regular weekly schedule will be agreed to for much of the year, we try to be as flexible as possible. Typical work week is Wed – Sun 10am – 6pm.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•  Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, pull 100 pounds at least twenty feet. 
•  Climb ladders and stairs. No fear of heights. 
•  Able to do manual punch downs.
•  Must have a valid US driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record.
•  Ability to stand for long periods of time.
•  Ability to effectively stock wine and move larger quantities of wine with help of a dolly or pallet jack.

SALARY INFORMATION:
•  Salary (Dependent on Experience) + Commissions, Tips, Paid Time Off.
