POSITION SUMMARY:
Chankaska Creek Ranch & Winery is seeking a Harvest Cellar Hand to participate and work with an established Winemaker for the 2017 Harvest. Chankaska is one of the leading wineries in the upper Midwest. We are seeking a pro-active, hands-on, organized and efficient team-player to assist in all aspect of cellar and lab work. This is a chance to work with a talented and experienced Winemaker who is motivated to teach, support, and mentor the right individual.
Ideal Candidate would have at least 1 year of cellar and lab experience but not necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Job Responsibilities:
- Pumpovers/Punchdowns
- Cleaning tanks
- Barrel Work
- Grape Sorting
- Cleaning the Press and other crush equipment
- Harvest runs from late August through Thanksgiving. Employee will be responsible for their own housing, transportation, and visa.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to multi-task and abide by deadlines
- Acquire ative listening and critical thinking skills in a potential high-stress environment.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all level of employees in a team-oriented environment.
- Must be available and willing to work evenings, weekends and long hours.
- Ability to stand on one’s feet for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs.
COMPENSATION / HOURS:
- Hourly wage $10 per hour
- Month of August 25 hours per week
- 40 hours per week September and October
- November 25 hours per week
