Description:
Wild Wines is a budding artisanal winery in the Applegate Valley of Southern Oregon producing organically grown and wildcrafted fruit, berry and flower wines. We have recently completed our new production facility and tasting room and our vision is to expand to 1000+ case production within the next 5 years. We are seeking a talented part-time winemaker to join us in the creation of the beautiful, unique wines that we offer. The wine production season typically runs between May and December because we utilize flowers, fruits and berries, not grapes.
Expectations:
Candidate should be proficient in sulfite-free (organic) winemaking with an emphasis on quality and care. This is niche market and the candidate's interest and ability to work with non-grape botanicals is of utmost importance. Candidate will also work on product development, lab analysis and technical sensory analysis. Must be able to work independently during much of the wine making process but also be able to collaborate with the owner and other staff members to create a successful team. We are looking for a flexible person with excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. Enthusiasm, passion and integrity are essential qualities as is an excellent, educated palette.
Responsibilities:
Will oversee production of multiple varietals.
Maintain a high standard of sanitation and organization.
Coordinate and schedule wine activities.
Order winery supplies and materials.
Must have a high level of attention to detail and ensure quality control at each point in the process including laboratory analysis and interpretation of results.
Will keep detailed records for each phase of production and inventory.
May be required to occasionally work the tasting room, pouring events and represent the winery on social occasions.
Job Requirements:
Candidate must have a BA in Enology, Winemaking or related study, or equivalent experience.
2+ years of winery production experience preferred.
Must have excellent lab and computer skills.
Must be able to operate and maintain winery equipment including forklifts.
