Job Title: Assistant Vineyard Manager

Reports to: Vineyard Manager

Full-Time (40 hours/wk average) Salary + Benefits
Projected Hire Date: 1 May 2013

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Under the direction of the Vineyard Manager, delegates work to field personnel in an effective manner.

·         Maintains close supervision of field crews, assuring proper procedures and quality of work by training personnel in the areas of scheduling, procedures, safety and regulations related to vineyard functions.

·         Hands on involvement in every facet of the vineyard operation, including pruning, tying, thinning, harvesting, shoot positioning, trellis work, etc.

• Assist Vineyard Manager with research, data collection, and special projects when necessary

·         Provides performance feedback on employees to manager as needed.

·         Collect and record canopy parameters (shoot length, canopy density, etc..)

• Monitor pests and diseases and survey vineyard conditions
• Collect fruit samples for maturation analysis
• Perform basic cleanup and maintenance duties related to viticulture
• Operation of tractors and farm equipment
  
  All other duties as deemed necessary for the successful operation of the vineyard

Qualifications:

• Two years of viticulture/agriculture preferred
• Able to prioritize, meet deadlines with accuracy and work with minimal supervision
• Able to walk for sustained periods of time through difficult conditions (such as mud, soft dirt, rocks, snow, etc.)
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
• Must possess excellent verbal and communication skills
• Must be flexible to work up to 7 days per week during harvest
• Must be able to work under difficult climatic conditions
