Kivelstadt Cellars is seeking dynamic and passionate individuals to join our small team. Kivelstadt Cellars is a boutique winery which tries to challenge the perception of traditional California wines by creating unique wines that showcase the best California sites, with a distinct new age twist. Sales is an essential part of this job, but hospitality is paramount. Our wines are not just alcoholic beverages, each wine tells a story – and we will ask you to effectively communicate that story to our guests. Responsibilities will be varied and include, but are not limited to:
Essential Functions and Duties Include:
• Greeting visitors to the Tasting Room in a friendly and welcoming fashion.
• Determining how best to guide our guests through their tasting experience (reading the guest).
• Pouring wines for the tastings, discussing the wines, answering questions and telling their story.
• Ensuring that all guests have a memorable experience.
• Focusing on sales of our wines and wine club to our guests.
• Processing orders, payment and wine club signups through our ipad based POS system
• Setup for and cleaning up after tastings including washing and polishing glassware and generally maintaining a clean environment.
• Assisting Tasting Room Manager with web order fulfillment, execution of wine club shipments, and other duties.
Job Requirements:
• A passion for wine and a commitment to excellence
• Possesses or can develop a solid working knowledge of wine and the winemaking process.
• Consistently demonstrates outstanding customer service and hospitality.
• Exudes a professional, positive appearance and demeanor.
• Can adapt to a constantly changing environment and help us grow through the learning process.
• Naturally dynamic sales skills.
• Demonstrates computer proficiency, including data entry, and ability to navigate POS system.
• Has high school diploma or GED; certificate in wine education or college degree preferred.
• Must be at least 21 year of age.
• Must be able to work Saturday and Sunday, and schedule flexibility is a plus.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds repeatedly
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to effectively stock wine, execute set-up and break down procedures and equipment.
• Ability to understand and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
Compensation: This is an hourly position with a competitive hourly rate and performance based sales incentives.
