Job Description:
Thumbprint Cellars is seeking multiple Cellar Interns for the 2017 harvest. This is a seasonal, hourly position, beginning early August 2017 and lasting through harvest (typically early November). This is a dynamic position which will provide valuable experience in the cellar as well as an opportunity to work with numerous varietals, and styles. We source the majority of our fruit from the Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Russian River Valley, and Knights Valley. We plan to crush about 80 tons of our own fruit along with an additional 120 tons for several of our custom crush clients. Between our clients and ourselves, we work with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Petite Verdot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Grenache, Petite Sirah, Barbera, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Viognier, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Job Overview:
The intern will be working closely with the Associate Winemaker and Winery Manager to support winemaking and cellar staff during harvest.
Cellar Duties (including, but not limited to):
• Perform additions to wine and must.
• Assist in receiving and processing fruit, sorting, pressing, etc.
• Perform manual punch downs, pump-overs.
• Monitor fermentation Brix and temperature as needed.
• Racking juice, filling, topping, and stirring barrels.
• Removing pomace from tanks & presses.
• Operate crusher/destemmer, press, conveyor, and pump.
• General cleaning and sanitization of winery and winery equipment.
• Other duties as needed.
Recommended Qualifications:
• Cellar experience OR winemaking education is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of cellar work and lift and carry 50 pounds. Bending, stooping, and climb ladders and barrels.
• Ability to work long hours/weekends and in various conditions.
• Passion for wine and winemaking.
• Positive attitude.
• Valid CA Driver’s License required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
Salary Information: Hourly + Overtime. $15-$17 per hour, DOE.
