King Estate Winery in Eugene, Oregon seeks a Controller to lead the accounting staff.  CPA and wine industry experience preferred.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

·         Oversee the activities of the Accounting Department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to: internal and external monthly financial statements, audits and annual budgets.

·         Oversee the activities of the disbursement positions, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing and total payroll tax compliance

·         Oversee the Accounts Receivable positions to ensure the accurate and timely management of all Accounts Receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc. 

·         Assure corporate income tax compliance in regards to timely completion of all income tax returns.

·         Assist in establishing and maintaining systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems processes and data and enhance the company’s value

·         Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports

·         Work closely with outside accounting firm to facilitate annual audit

·         Report quarterly internal financial statements to bank to satisfy loan covenants

·         Performs monthly reconciliation of bulk wine and assemble all components to bottle wine in the accounting system

·         Prepare several monthly and quarterly journal entries to close books

·         Reconcile and post activity in hospitality and sky king check books

·         Initiate direct deposits to employee accounts for payroll and expense reimbursements

·         Administer company credit card program

·         Provide financial information to managers on a monthly basis showing actual spending vs. budget

·         Prepare separate P&L statements for events and tower club for manager analysis

·         Schedule and attend periodic budget meetings with department heads

Experience & Education:

 

·         Bachelor’s degree required in Finance or Accounting

·         5-8 years combined experience in financial planning, reporting and operations

·         Must have strong analytical skills

·         Ability to communicate financial information clearly in a manner which helps drive decisions and an executive level

·          Experience in compiling data and creating reports that outline financial results and trends

·         Strong skills in Excel and practical skills and experience with other office applications

·         Winery Accounting experience a plus

·         CPA certification strongly preferred

·         Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to associates across all levels of the organization

·         Ability to manage multiple projects with thorough focus on detail

·         Must exhibit the highest level of professionalism in dealing with sensitive and confidential information

·         Demonstrated leadership, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities

·         Experience effectively managing staff, schedules, budgets and business practices
