JOB TITLE:       Winery & Vineyard National Sales Manager

           

 

SUMMARY:                 

This is a hands-on position in respect to distribution planning, marketing and development. Responsible for the annual unit, dollar and gross profit plans for wholesale and distribution.  Encompasses executing the strategic direction, assuring achievement of sales goals, implementing marketing programs and coordinating national sales and marketing activities.  Responsible for growing overall unit and dollar volume as well as the wholesale and retail distribution network.  This position requires strong sales skills and interpersonal dexterity to manage brand performance. The National Sales Manager reports to the General Manager of Iris Vineyards.

 

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS:   

·         Determines annual unit and gross-profit plans by implementing marketing strategies/analyzing trends and results. 

·         Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories.

·         Projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products. 

·         Implement national sales programs by developing field sales action plans. 

·         Increase overall sales volume, product mix and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators and competitors. 

·         Work with existing distributor networks and identify new distributor opportunities to ensure best representation and support by market. 

·         Expand sales activity to pioneer and support international markets. 

·         Develop and maintain relationships between InnSight Hotels and Iris Vineyards. 

·         Develop initiatives and pursue new business development opportunities for on and off premise distribution. 

·         Spearhead annual planning meetings with key accounts.

·         Travel in support of distribution.

·         Utilize various data sources to develop in-market tactics and strategies to grow the brand and increase volume against competitors. 

·         Establish and adjust selling prices by monitoring costs, competition, supply and demand. 

·         Develop new promotional initiatives and tactics to drive incremental sales volume and remain competitive against other brands. 

·         Aggregate and analyze weekly/quarterly/monthly/ yearly sales data and report to management on customer orders gross margins, promotional plans, actual vs. forecast, depletion, etc. 

·         Project expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products.

·         Increase overall sales volume, product mix and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators and competitors.

·         Participate and represent the brand at industry events.  

·         Create and maintain systems and spreadsheets for historical tracking of sales and pricing.

·         Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing industry publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.

·         Manage with respect to the bottom line and achievement of the corporate purpose and goals.

·         Communicate openly and honestly with ownership and staff.

·         Gain ownership approval and operate consistently with approved budgets.

·         Ability to recruit, hire, evaluate, develop, and/or terminate direct reports if needed.

·         Supervise direct reports and interact with other associates in a fashion that promotes the achievement of corporate purpose and goals.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:       

·         Minimum 5 years industry experience preferred.

·         Demonstrated ability in sales and distribution management. 

·         Strong negotiation skills.  

·         Ability to interpret financial and operational data into operational plan.

·         Effective time management (i.e. planning, prioritizing, delegating, etc.)

·         Ability to complete multiple tasks along the same timeline. 

·         Possess initiative, integrity and business professionalism.

·         Valid driver license with acceptable driving record.

·         Ability to communicate effectively with clients, customers, vendors and team members.

·         Must pass criminal background check.
