Summary Description
Wine Trends is a wholesale distributor that focuses on “Emerging Brands, Artisan and Luxury Wines.” As a Director of Marketing & Sales, a part of your role is to be the Brand Ambassador for a selected group of Suppliers. Also your role is to create and assist in all areas associated with the marketing of our brands and products for our sales and leadership team, and finally your role is to be active in the marketplace and develop relationships with selected Key Accounts established by yourself & Senior Management.

Essential Skill Sets and Qualifications:
Computer Literacy:  Hands-on Proficiency in state-of-the-art business application software for word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail and the Internet.  These skills will be put to task on a daily basis. You will need a working knowledge and effective ability to use the following software applications:

Organizational: Proficient in Planning, Documenting, Prioritizing and Scheduling objectives, projects and tasks.
Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills sufficient for effectively conveying information at all personnel levels and for making effective marketing presentations for our customers, potential customers, sales and leadership team members and our suppliers. Additionally, clear and effective telephone and email exchanges should be concise and professional.
Interpersonal: Able to effectively motivate others; Effective consensus builder; Good listener; Patient and even-tempered; able to interact at all levels of management and personnel.
Creativity: Interest, ability and creative eye to create and produce effective and professional sales and marketing pieces in a consistent and timely manner.
Experience:  Experience in marketing and/or promotion and sales. Food Service or Wine Industry experience is a bonus.  A personal interest with wine and our products is desirable.
Reports to: Executive Vice President & General Manager
Duties:

Supplier Relations:
  • Effectively work with our supplier partners in building sales/brands.
  • Confirm and communicate with suppliers on sales expectations, products, pricing, & costing.
  • Coordinate market visit opportunities and efficient brand promotion in marketplace.
  • Plan, forecast, review, assist in establishing appropriate inventory levels in warehouses.
  • Effective communication with HDC Purchasing, Pricing, Costing, AR, etc…teams
  • Maximize special buys, exclusive opportunities and key items for chain distribution.
  • Leadership Team: Effectively work with the Wine Trends Senior Team & HDC Senior Leadership
  • As a Brand Ambassador, develop skills in becoming a professional speaker
  • Effectively work with WTI & HDC team members in developing rhythm & efficiency
Market Sales & Key Accounts:
  • Effectively working & developing Selected Key Accounts
  • Working with EVP /GM, with DOS, in developing Key Accounts & actual selling
  • Building relationships with these accounts and assisting  in developing a ‘wider’ business
  • Effectively work with WTI Sales Professional’s in developing & maximizing business
Market Visits:
  • Effectively coordinate and execute all details associated with Market Visitors.
  • Confirm and communicate with suppliers on dates, routing and expectations
  • Develop accurate Market Visit Shells for distribution to the sales team and suppliers
  • Reviewing inventory in appropriate warehouses and coordinating samples
  • Creating and coordinating all Points of Sale (POS) & Updated Price sheets for the visits
  • Coordinate on hand inventory in each market with Regional Managers for visits
  • Distribution of Market Visit Itineraries and marketing visit materials, tasting sheets, price sheets, to all participating parties in a timely and consistent manner.
  • WTI Marketing Events/Tastings: Effectively coordinate and execute all details associated with Wine Trends Trade Shows and Charity events as defined on own or in coordination with Regional Mgr/DOS. 
  • Creating and developing Invitations, Tasting Programs, Order Forms and promotional materials as needed and defined.
  • Reviewing inventory in appropriate warehouses and coordinating products
  • Reviewing event checklists, executing timelines, organizing suppliers schedules and event details
  • Effectively communicating event information to suppliers and sales and leadership team members
  • Similarly executing many of the same tasks as outlined above with Market Visits
  • Product Information:
  • Maintain and update Wine Trends Product Catalog on a monthly basis and publish as defined
  • Develop and coordinate the distribution of point of sale materials as necessary
  • Develop, update and maintain organized files for sell sheets, pricing sheets, and marketing pieces
  • Create PowerPoint presentations for Statewide and Regional Meetings as defined by the Directors of Sales, Directors of Marketing, and Managers.
  • Have a working knowledge of VIP (operating system), Margin Minder, iDig, and any new system added to the HDC network as it relates to your tasks.
Public Relations:
  • Coordinate winery visits for Wine Trends’ management and trade partners
  • Maintain and update Wine Trends website and files as defined
  • Maintain and update Wine Trends Facebook & Social Media platforms as defined
  • Successfully work and cooperate with the HDC administrative staff as it relates to your tasks
Professional Conduct & Appearance:
  • You have received and acknowledged receipt of the Heidelberg Handbook. This handbook clearly states the expectations that are expected from all of our employees. As a member of the Wine Trends’ team, you are expected to conduct yourself and have an appearance of that of a professional at all times.
Performance Standards:
  • Your job performance will be continually assessed by the EVP & GM and will be specifically reviewed annually. Compensation growth as well as continued employment is contingent upon your enthusiasm for and detailed execution of the tasks as assigned.
  • Satisfying the parameters as established by Exec VP & GM of Wine Trends
  • Satisfying the parameters as established by HDC management and Wine Trends leadership team
  • Satisfying the parameters of extended Education & Training as defined
  • Maintaining and improving Microsoft skills and ways of enhancing our business
Job Location:

The Wine Trends’ Director of Marketing & Sales will report daily to The Heidelberg Distributing Company, 3801 Park West Drive, Columbus, Ohio. From time to time you will be asked to report to different locations or Heidelberg Facilities for unique occasions, events, meetings or special projects.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Wine Trends:
     Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
    *except for Wine Trends Statewide Meetings (12 per year)

Heidelberg Vineyard:
     Thursday & Friday
     *except for 2 weeks per year working market for HV in OH/KY

Key Account calls: Cuff’s

Market Work: WTI  2 day per month
