Facilities Electrician (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs all electrical maintenance, new electrical work, and all electrical repairs at all of the company’s facilities. Involved in all maintenance, repairs, or new work that have an electrical component. General maintenance work including but not limited too; cleaning, mechanical, fabrication, controls, lubrication, preventative maintenance procedures, and all other tasks required from a maintenance technician.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Installs, services and repairs lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets and wiring.

• Develops preventative maintenance program for all electrical equipment including but not limited to main switch boards, critical circuit breakers, distribution boards, panel boards, disconnects, equipment controls panels, and equipment connections.

• Performs preventative maintenance for all electrical equipment including but not limited to main switch boards,critical circuit breakers, distribution boards, panel boards, disconnects, equipment controls panels, and equipment connections.

• Operates power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment.

• Installs, repairs and services specialized electrical equipment and machinery.

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.

• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.

• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or

repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.

• Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system

• Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.

• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.

• Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

• Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure onformance to building and safety codes.

• Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.

• Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.

• Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment.

• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.

• Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

• Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated

wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.

• Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.

• Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.

• Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.

• Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.

• Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights and generators, placing flares, and driving needed vehicles.

• Constructs and maintains service equipment.

• Reads electrical circuit diagrams, electrical drawings, control wiring diagrams, and equipment wiring diagrams.

• Requisitions material and supplies from stockroom; calls vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies, and recommends purchases and suppliers for electrical equipment and parts.

• Transfers primary power from one power source to another.

• Installs conductors, splices cable, builds terminations and does necessary hook-up for primary power lines.

• Installs conduit, junction boxes, supports and all other items necessary for conductor distribution.

• Installs underground conduit for electrical lines and installs low voltage electric lines and conduits for telephone systems.

• May do other trades work incidental to electrical work.

• Responsible for lock out/tag out on any equipment being serviced.

• Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Computer skills required: Excel, Word, Internet Explorer

• Experience/education required: California State Licensed Electrician with facilities experience

o 5 years’ experience as a certified electrician

o PLC programming experience preferred but not required

o Controls/low voltage wiring preferred but not required

o Winery experience preferred but not required

• Travel requirements: Must have valid driver’s license and must be insurable under the company’s

insurance policy. 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Working conditions in winery operations can be hot or cold, wet, slippery and noisy, and involves exposure to potentially hazardous conditions. Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds, stand, bend, twist, grasp, push and pull for extended periods of time. Must be able to work at heights. Seasonal variation in workload and long hours during harvest are required.
