The 17,000 square foot wine and spirits superstore, Tin Woodman’s Flask, will be one of the largest liquor stores in Central New York, with everyday low prices and a huge selection of products and exciting craft brands not typically offered by smaller retailers. The Tin Woodman’s Flask will feature a wide variety of wine and spirits, including a special section for products from New York wineries and distilleries. A dedicated tasting area of the store will also host regular educational and sampling events to introduce shoppers to different wine and spirits, craft cocktails and much more. 

The Tin Woodman’s Flask will be conveniently located in the Emerald City Plaza, next to the Yellow Brick Road Casino in Chittenango, NY. Construction on the Tin Woodman’s Flask will begin in August, with its opening date slated for November 2017. 

We are welcoming applicants for the General Manager position. This leadership role will be responsible for overseeing the total operation of the store including managing staff, inventory control, and monitoring store profitability budgets. The preferred candidate will have 5 years relevant operational experience and at least 2 years managing teams, preferably in a liquor store environment. Additional responsibilities and qualifications include:

Additional Responsibilities:
•  Administers, analyzes and enforces use of all store financial controls to ensure proper accountability of monies.
•  Determines and schedules appropriate levels of staff necessary to ensure efficient operations and schedules employees accordingly.
•  Interviews, selects and supervises the training of employees.
•  Coordinates with the Marketing Department to create all marketing and sales-related collateral and website development.
•  Meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements in operating under the New York State Liquor Authority.
•  Enforces all store policies and procedures and resolves problems that affect the store’s service, efficiency and productivity. 
•  Supervises daily performance of store employees, providing both corrective and positive feedback as warranted and following through with timely performance appraisals.
•  Exercises sound managerial judgment and decision-making pertaining to employee relations and personnel actions.
•  Provides and inspires outstanding customer service. 
•  Determines types and levels of inventory to be ordered, coordinates with suppliers and ensures the accuracy and quality of the inventory received. 
•  Inspects store and merchandise on a daily basis to ensure cleanliness and operational standards are maintained.
•  Utilizes space to maximize profitability and coordinates the rotation of stock and the re-stocking of store display shelves.
•  Helps determine a mix of products that enhance profitability on the basis of their contribution margin, volume and complementing of the main product.
•  Identifies, controls and reduces costs where possible.
•  Works closely with the Director of Business Affairs and regularly provides updates on store operations.
•  Establishes and implements programs to assure proper maintenance of building, grounds and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
•  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management or a related field.

•  At least 3 to 5 years of relevant operational experience strongly preferred. At least 2 years’ experience supervising others.

•  Experience operating under and complying with all regulatory requirements in operating a liquor store under the New York State Liquor Authority is preferred.

•  Advanced knowledge of liquor and wine to assist in guest recommendation.

•  Previous experience with centralized price book and/or invoicing procedures required.

•  Must be 21 years of age.

•  Must have the ability to work a schedule that includes evenings, weekends and holidays as required.

•  Prior experience in a high volume retail environment strongly preferred.

•  Must have knowledge of fundamental management functions such as planning, organizing, directing, controlling and successful negotiation.

•  Knowledge of personnel management practices and principles is required.

•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

•  Must have the ability to interpret, explain, and administer store policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

•  Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position
