Position Summary:  

The Division Sales Manager is responsible for overall sales activity within an assigned division of the national sales organization. This position drives division sales, market share penetration, and profitability for all channels through leadership and direction of dedicated sales team and distributor management.

Duties/Essential Job Functions:

  • Contributes to the organization’s profitability; ensures division volume and profit goals are achieved while remaining within established budget; makes decisions that enhance the organization’s financial position; uses financial and quantitative information effectively to manage P&L statements, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Builds motivated, high achieving, customer and goal oriented sales team; manages performance on an ongoing basis; gives timely, specific feedback and helpful coaching; provides opportunities for development.
  • Develops annual division plans that are comprehensive, realistic, and effective in meeting the national sales organization’s goals; integrates planning efforts across work units as appropriate.
  • Identifies critical, high payoff strategies and prioritizes team efforts accordingly; uses information about the market and competitors in making decisions; recognizes strategic opportunities for success; adjusts actions and decisions for focus on critical strategic issues e.g. customers, quality, and competition.
  • Defines levels of accountability and effectiveness for current and future performance of dedicated sales team; assigns responsibilities; delegates and empowers others; removes obstacles; allows for and contributes needed resources; coordinates work efforts when necessary; monitors progress.
  • Localizes and implements national distributor policies and programs consistent with company goals, objectives, and brand standards.
  • Demonstrates principled leadership and sound business ethics; shows consistency among principles, values, and behavior; builds trust with others through own authenticity and follow-through on commitments; drives results and success; conveys a sense of urgency.
  • Responsible for upper-management relationships with distributors and top trade partners.
  • Ensures execution of market and distribution strategies.

Position Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing, or a related field required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of seven years wine supplier/distributor experience with 3-5 years management of appropriate reports and distributor management.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

  • Demonstrated leadership and successful track record; market and distributor knowledge; excellent communication, presentation, customer service, organizational, and negotiation skills; detail oriented; results/solution driven; PC literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); ability to navigate in the Internet/Intranet environments and use Nielsen/BDN data for effective business development; acceptable driving history.
  • Must possess in-depth working knowledge of wine and the wine industry.
