The position of Logistics Manager works with Operations, Accounting, Customer Service, Dispatching, railroads, customs agents, warehouse staff, shipping companies, and clients. Responsibilities include managing all domestic and international shipping, receiving, and associated support and related functions. A large percentage of the day will be spent communicating with staff, parties and carriers to monitor shipment performance and adjust as necessary to keep customers more than satisfied by delivering product on time, complete and without damage. Also work with carriers to negotiate best service and rate levels to help maximize profitability for the company.
•  Strong understanding and experience in logistics/warehousing/inventory management/transportation processes.
•  Ability to measure, analyze, improve, and take a leadership role in processes after the initial implementation.
•  Possess knowledge of root cause analysis/problem solving and the ability to implement and drive corrective actions and efficiencies.
•  Project management experience in logistics/warehousing/inventory management within the wine/beverage/food industry or related experience
•  Possess the ability to learn new techniques and acquire knowledge in a short period of time
•  Ability to partner with project managers, construction managers, implementation managers, customer supply teams, third party logistics/warehouse suppliers, railroad companies, general contractors and customers to gain an understanding of the project deliverables and timelines.
•  Ability to multi-task and work under tight time lines and thrive on day-to-day operational pressure.
•  Accountability and ownership are essential for this role
•  Superior verbal and written communication skills
•  Strong IT skills, be system savvy in ERP systems(IFS), Timekeeping (Kronos), Oracle HCM, and related systems as well as the complete MS Office suite – Word, Excel, Project, and Visio knowledge is a must
•  Strong understanding of current FMCSA laws and regulations.
•  Collaboration with the safety department regarding FMCSA requirements for staffed drivers.
•  Ability to create and track KPI/metrics.
•  Provide direction in all phases of national and international logistics and prepare and maintain information and documentary records.
•  Respond to inquiries regarding shipments from other internal departments.
•  Schedule outbound carriers as needed including working with freight forwarders, per client's specifications.
•  Responsible for all shipping related activities and tasks.
•  Request quotes from carriers and determine the best and most affordable shipment options. Communicate with freight vendors; follow up on shipments, and coordinate transport issues with carriers/suppliers and internal customers around the world.
•  Generate and review reports for advanced notice of shipment volumes.
•  Resolve obstacles that could potentially cause delay of shipments.
•  Prepare shipping documentation; confirm all international import/export documentation requirements prior to dispatch of shipments and verifies accurate documentation.
•  Works with Finance to negotiate freight carriage contracts to minimize freight costs inbound and outbound.
•  Work closely with customer service department to properly meet customer specific packaging, labeling, and notification requirements.
•  Responsible for completing all daily shipments and verifying that all orders have been processed and picked up by transportation carriers.
•  Verify product was delivered to the customers and effectively and timely communicate with Operations, Accounting, and Project Managers regarding status of orders.
•  Monitor supply of shipping materials required to execute import and export shipments.
•  Signs for materials received, checks goods against packing slips and seeks direction when materials do not match or are damaged.
•  Support the receiving of all incoming shipments, verifying packing lists, updating the system, and labeling incoming goods with appropriate identification codes.
•  Participates as required in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work.
•  Brings regulatory compliance questions/ issues to the attention of management.
•  Assure all freight claims are filed on time, and paid out by carriers. Analyze damage to determine root causes and implement corrective action
•  Maintain required shipping supplies and form requirements.
•  Maintenance and presentations of Warehouse Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
•  Strong understanding of current FMCSA laws and regulations.
•  Collaboration with the safety department regarding FMCSA requirements for staffed drivers.


Job Requirements
•  Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of related education and experience in logistics (shipping/receiving/material handling/inventory control).
•  Four + years of international logistics experience and supply chain with perishable goods, or related field with a freight forwarder with. Experience in the wine or beverage industry a plus.
•  Knowledge and understanding of basic national and international shipping methods.
•  Understanding of and ability to pack and process railcars a plus.
•  Excellent knowledge of IATA, DOT UN-Packaging for shipping and storing requirements and import requirements.
•  Understanding of GHS, HTS and NMFC codes.
•  Ability to develop and maintain shipping/receiving metrics (i.e. supplies, transit time, shipper performance, etc.).
