Clover Hill Vineyards and Winery is a family run operation and one of Pennsylvania’s largest wineries. Located in Breinigsville, a small community approximately an hour north of Philadelphia and an hour west of New York City. Clover Hill maintains six different vineyard sites within the counties of Berks and Lehigh for a total of 70 acres of vines and annually produces wine on site in a modern winemaking facility with cooperage in excess of 90,000 gallons. Wines are sold through Clover Hill’s four retail locations and are also available statewide through the Pennsylvania Wine and Spirits Shoppes and several grocery store chains.
Clover Hill is actively looking for an energetic and highly motivated individual whose focus will be assisting with the winemaking activities with a small component of helping with vineyard tasks and wine sales events.
Applicants for this full-time position should be of strong mind and body (read: you must be able to lift empty barrels). They always say in winemaking circles that “Cleanliness is Close to Godliness”, so cleanliness and good sanitation practices with attention to detail are an absolute must!
Cellar Responsibilities:
Cellaring operations will be “very hands-on” and will focus on everything from when the grapes arrive at the winery to the final steps when the wine is bottled and shipped out of the warehouse.
- Harvest Activities: Fruit Receipt, Crushing and Pressing, Juice Adjustment and Fermentation
- Sanitation: Cleaning of Tanks, Barrels, Pumps and Hoses, and Equipment/Facility
- Cellaring Activities: Racking, Juice and Wine Transfer, Fining, Cold Stabilization and Filtration
- Barreling
- Bottling
- Warehousing and Delivery
- Record Keeping
Vineyard Responsibilities Include:
- Pruning and Tying
- Spraying
- Growing Activities: Shoot Positioning, Leaf Removal and Cluster Thinning
- Vineyard Expansion Activities: Planting, Trellis Installation, Plant Training and Watering
- Harvest
Promotion and Sales Responsibilities Include:
- Tasting Room Sales
- Festival Sales
Winery experience and/or and enology degree is not required but is preferred. Applicants must be mechanically inclined, have good communication and organizational skills, and be proficient in computers. Compensation for this position starts at $17 per hour.
