The Associate Buyer is responsible for weekly order creation, item maintenance and day-to-day management of supplier relations for TWM’s corporate Wine Merchandising & Buying Team. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role that directly drives sales volume and margin targets while working with regulatory compliance teams, Supply Chain and retail stores to develop, purchase and manage a broad assortment of product inventory. The Associate Buyer will report to the Sr. Manager of Wine and support all category management functions including replenishment, promotional planning, inventory control, and product & vendor analysis. The ideal candidate will be a highly detail-oriented individual who is able to build strong relationships with internal and external business partners, as the position involves significant supplier and cross-department collaboration. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and organized associate buyer/analyst to delve deep into the alcoholic beverage industry.
Essential Functions
• Execute product development process; sampling, branding review, pricing and volume planning
• Execute order creation & management process; item set-up, on-going item maintenance, compliance and supply-side guidance
• Day-to-day supplier management, inventory tracking and reporting
• Chain-wide assortment and allocation planning
• Weekly category analysis, business review and internal reporting
• Assist with the creation of brand-specific marketing content and sales-support materials
• Drive educational opportunities and in-store events with suppliers that create a superior customer experience.
• Travel to stores as required or requested
You should have:
• A 4 year Undergraduate Degree
Experience is important. To set you apart:
• 1-3 years retail product buying or category management- in the alcohol beverage space preferred
• Experience with Supplier Management including product development, ordering, and inventory planning
• Proven relationship builder with business partners, staff and external suppliers – great people skills
• Solid experience in data analysis with higher level Excels skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team in a rapidly expanding organization
These characteristics will help you fit in:
• Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office and SharePoint programs with an emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint and Office
• Basic wine/ industry knowledge preferred however not necessary
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills both oral and written
• Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and grammatical skills
• Ability to plan and manage projects within time constraints
• Ability to travel to stores as needed
• Foreign language working proficiencies preferred however not necessary
• Must be 21 years of age
