Account Development Specialist (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

Overview:

Account Development Specialists are responsible for maximizing the awareness and velocity of Gallo “LUX” and “Fine Wine” brands to targeted fine wine accounts through effective planning, selling, merchandising, training and communication that permits achievement of company and supplier objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining accounts by effectively communicating sales and marketing plans, maintaining relationships with decision makers, and by providing in-store support and services, where legal (i.e. merchandising of relevant programming, consumer and staff training).
  • Determines specific needs of individual accounts by analyzing account trends and surveying for incremental opportunities.
  • Establishes merchandising objectives relative to brand priority for each account by understanding company priorities and defining POS needs to the supplier.
  • Supports sales representatives as a training and information resource by presenting and sharing account trends and brand knowledge.
  • Through collaboration with Field Sales Managers (FSM) and Area Managers (AM), aid sales in account visits to meet the expectations of suppliers and management.
  • Prepares and delivers professional sales presentations to customers by balancing the company’s priorities and customers’ needs to include selling new products, distributions, and other brand programming as aligned with sales teams for maximum efficiency and placement.
  • Understands company pricing and product programming information monthly and quarterly by reviewing and maintaining accurate and up to date records.
  • Understands competitive pricing and product programming by reviewing pricing schedules and surveying accounts.
  • Ensures maximum brand visibility within accounts by maintaining account/ brand standards as determined by supplier brand standards and management, using effective and current point of sale materials when appropriate. 
  • Educates BreakThru and customer staff on core brands by administering instructional staff training seminars.Completes all necessary professional and product related training programs by attending, participating, and passing all required tests as defined by management. (e.g. WSET, WSSM, TOPS, FOCUS MARKETING).
  •  Maintains professional and industry knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks.
  • Maintains professional relationships with all suppliers by participating in effective supplier work-with sales calls. ADS will work through direct supervisor for any specific instructions regarding supplier work withs.
  • Maintains professional presence in the market while continuing to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, peers and associates.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and by managing one’s own time and that of the team respectfully.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must hold an entry level certification in wine and/or spirits (i.e. CSW and/or WSET)

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years in sales or industry related experience is required.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • A sound understanding of wine and spirits is required.
  • Strong customer focused and interpersonal skills required.
