Job Description

Title: Division Finance Manager

Reports to: Division Director, Director - Division Finance

Direct reports: Territory Finance Managers, Division Analytics Manager, Senior Financial Analyst

Indirect reports: Commercial Specialists, Sales and Ops Planning Lead

Partners with: Territory Managers, State Managers, Division Portfolio Manager, Division Retail Manager, Field Marketing Managers, Territory Portfolio Managers, Accounting and NAR Finance teams (Operations, MPG, DBI, BAM’s, CCD, etc.).

Job Description:

● Leads all aspects of field finance for the division including pricing strategy and margin performance, business reporting, financial modeling, profitability analysis, and overall profit optimization. 

● Leading a high-performing finance team by developing the right strategy, structure, tools, and skills needed for team succession and individual development.

● Leads the commercial analytics process from the regional perspective and collaborates with key business partners to drive insights to action.  Engages the Field Finance team to consult on business opportunities and gaps using directive business analytics including pricing analysis, programming effectiveness and ROI, brand business reviews, volumetric assessment and causal data, and economic & environmental assessment.

● Drives for efficiencies by closely collaborating with peers across NAR divisions, and by utilizing NAR centrally provided resources and tools.

● Partner with Division Portfolio Manager to lead the annual planning process for the Division including localization of brand plans, KPI development, and resource allocation. Primary responsibility for accuracy, communication, and rolling forecast of Division financial plan including Volume, Net Sales, Marketing Funds, and SG&A.

● Decision support and strategic advisor to Division Director.

● Responsible for maintaining proper financial controls to ensure accounting practices for the division are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

● Provide transparency to business performance and underlying activities to all stakeholders of the Division including NAR Finance, Distributors, Marketing teams, NAR Leadership, etc.

● Leadership:  Manages formal direct report teams and informal teams. Allocates roles, accountabilities and major assignments. Decides on solutions based on team input. Sets, monitors, and provides team members with performance feedback. Coaches and mentors all team members in organizational, industry/ business, behavioral, and technical skills. Checks for morale, personal concerns, and work/relationship problems within and between teams.

● Analytical Ability:  The ability to allocate sufficient time and effort to analyze opportunities and resolve problems.  The ability to develop alternative courses of action and commit to actions based on factual information; providing rationale for recommendations; weighing and prioritizing data.  The ability to identify problems, analyze relevant data, think critically, generate alternatives, and select solutions to problems.

● Judgment and Decision-Making: The ability, readiness, and willingness, to commit to timely, rational decisions using logical assumptions and factual information.  Not premature in deciding upon a course of action or solution.  Clear in deciding and communicating choice.  Accurately assesses risks associated with various courses of action.  Ability to think conceptually, flexibly and strategically.

● Business Acumen: Demonstrates good business sense, including the ability to make effective and efficient use of financial resources to achieve intended objectives.  Understanding of the B-F organization including brands, channels and accounts.

Must Requirements:

● Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in finance and/or accounting plus 5-7 years of relevant experience; or MBA degree plus 3 years relevant experience; or equivalent education/experience combination.

● Demonstrated ability to apply sound business judgment to analytical projects and provide advice to line management based on the analysis.  Demonstrated ability to independently prepare financial and/or strategic analysis with accuracy and within an established time frame.

● In-depth understanding of and experience with personal and ERP computer applications in a finance/administration environment, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, SAP and/or Hyperion.

● Ability to independently plan and prioritize multiple diverse work projects within the department.

● Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.  Ability to communicate complex issues in a concise, clear manner.

● Strong interpersonal skills; able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external contacts.  Ability to establish rapport with sales force management.

● Personal honesty and integrity.  Ability to effectively handle confidential information and materials.

● Committed worker with ability to work flexible schedule to complete assignments with accuracy and meet deadlines.

Preferred Requirements:

● Prior experience in the wine and spirits industry #AP 1
