Purchasing Manager

Location: Ashland, VA

Reports To: VP, Supply Chain Management

Status: Full Time; Exempt

*Purchasing Experience in the Wine Industry Preferred

The Winebow Group a global leader of fine wine and spirits, with offices in New York, New Jersey, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington and Virginia is accepting resume submissions for a Purchasing Manager in our Ashland, VA office.

This position oversees the entire purchasing process for The Winebow Group. Along with Merchandise Planners, analyzes product usage in order to processes inventory orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure adequate par levels, sufficient products are available to maintain continuous operations. 

Key Functions of the position include…..

1. Detailed analysis of all product usage to determine stocking levels, reorder points, par levels, etc.

2. Responsible for replenishing stock items by ordering inventory items in accordance with established policies and procedures.

3. Maintains inventory levels within guidelines established by budget.

4. Maintains current and accurate database information for all inventory items.

5. Collaborates with the Logistics and Distribution departments to determine lead times, manufacturing cycles and best buy practices.

6. Maintains storage of all historical files, product information, and records that are attributed to Purchasing in an accurate and timely manner.

7. Assist in the review of open orders on a regular basis to confirm orders have been processed and received as expected. Document variances are accordingly.

8. Able to select, print, and review database reports that will augment the purchasing process.

9. Provides information, as needed, for the preparation of reports.

10. Responsible for staffing, staffing planning, conducting performance appraisals on direct reports, ensuring compliance with training requirements, and developing direct reports.

11. Meets agreed upon goals and objectives effectively and in a timely manner. 

12. Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.

Skills/Educational Background:

· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.

· 3 years of experience in materials management or purchasing preferred.

· 1-2 years of management experience preferred.

· Demonstrated computer proficiency; experience in VIN, Great Plains, Diver, Dynamics NAV preferred.

· Experience in the wine and/or beverage industry strongly preferred. 

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
