Mathew Post Farm is a scenic 200 acre farm at the foothills of the Boston Mountains with approximately 125 acres of vineyards under production.
The vineyards are currently growing, V. rotundifolia, French-American hybrids, V. labrusca and V. aestivalis species of grapes. There is also University experimental work in progress with new grape varieties: Opportunity and Enchantment. The farm has recently patented a new grape variety named, Prophecy.
The candidate must have a BS in Viticulture (or related field) and a minimum of 2 years vineyard experience.
The candidate must be legal to work in the United States.
This position would require leading, instructing, managing and physically working in the areas of pruning, irrigation, weed, disease and pest control, canopy and fruit quality management, harvest, equipment repair and operation, employee payroll timekeeping, and other vineyard related duties as needed.
This duties would include vineyard development activities including: land preparation, trellis and irrigation system installation, and planting.
The manager must be able to be able to lead a team of employees, keep complete and accurate vineyard records, operate farm equipment, manage materials and inventory, stay up-to-date and continue their vineyard management education, work the typical agricultural work schedule that includes extended hours during harvest and work in conditions of heat and cold, able to lift 50+ lbs. repeatedly and have a valid driver's license.
