Forbes Travel Guide is seeking a hospitality inspector to join its growing Atlanta-based team working on its annual star ratings and new online home, Startle.com. Since 1958, Forbes Travel Guide's professional team of inspectors has inspected and rated hotels, restaurants and spas across the globe, providing travelers with the best information on where to stay, dine, spa and sightsee.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY:  The ratings inspector will be responsible for gathering all information required to conduct and complete an evaluation of an assigned hotel, restaurant or spa, as well as writing detailed content on those properties for Startle.com. This is a contract position with the possibility of full-time employment.

 

 

Skills Required:

 

·      A minimum of 5-7 years travel or lifestyle writing experience in either an online or major consumer magazine environment

·      Experience in writing for SEO, voice and AP/Chicago style

·      Ability to multi-task and handle significant daily deadlines

·      Experience in or familiarity with luxury travel and experience editing or writing about luxury travel, food and wine essential

·      Extremely organized, mature and self-motivated, works well alone

·      Detail orientated with a strong ability to keep meticulous records and prepare accurate reports both manually and through electronic channels

·      Low profile; preferred candidates do not have blogs or other prominent social media personalities

·      Strong communications skills, ability to effectively communicate to co-workers and home office to ensure timely and accurate reporting

·      Position requires extensive domestic and international travel

·      Hospitality experience preferred but not essential

·      Proficiency of additional language a plus.

 

Principle Duties:

 

• Evaluate properties by objectively answering pre-determined standards and submitting report to home office.
• In conjunction with each unannounced inspection report submit 100 minimum word count answers to a pre-determined set of questions and answers for Startle.com in accordance with corporate style guide.
• Contribute as required to support creation and presence of the voice of the Forbes Travel Guide inspector and regular submission to corporate blog page.
• Track, evaluate and report on trends in the market with respect to hotels, restaurants and spas.
• Attend meetings as required.
