Tasting Room Manager (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

The Tasting Room Manager is responsible for managing the staff and day-to-day operations of our highly personal, educational guest experience. Specifics include winery retail sales, merchandising, staff training, and execution of special events. The Tasting Room Manager will work with winery management to ensure overall smooth operation and oversight of winery property and tasting room.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Tasting Room Management:
- Ensure that consumers and trade have a premium, informative, and personal experience.
- Ensure tasting room staff understand and execute the tasting room philosophy.
- Cultivate guest appreciation of Lucas wines through consistent visitor education, tours and tastings.
- Develop guidelines pertaining to the day-to-day operation of the tasting room.
- Required to open, close, and operate tasting room Thursday through Sunday and Wednesdays as needed.
- Maintain physical property including merchandising, cleaning, stocking, and grounds. Work with general management to order all necessary supplies.
- Provide monthly inventory reports.

Tasting Room Sales:
- Manage day to day financial duties of the winery retail sales, including communication with general management and accounting.
- Provide support and recommendations to grow the direct to consumer business.
- Design sales programs to increase overall tasting room traffic and product sales.
- Work with general management to enhance viral marketing and social media campaigns.
- Manage and order supplies and merchandise for the tasting room.

Staff Management & Training:
- Identify, hire and train staff to deliver an exceptional guest experience
- Mentor staff and provide an exemplary model of interaction with winery guests.
- Manage staff scheduling and submit all staff paper work to payroll. Manage staff labor budget.

Special Events:
- Assist with the planning and execution of all special events, including wine club functions, tasting room promotions, regional events, and consumer outreach initiatives.
- Coordinate special visits and tours of facility. Manage outside vendors for catering.
- Represent the winery at off-site tastings and events upon request.

Wine Club Management:
- Work in conjunction with general management and Wine Club coordinator to grow and manage the Wine Club program.
- Act as ambassador to club members.
- Must be present for quarterly Wine Club pick up weekends.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- Previous experience with tasting room management preferred
- Passion for fine wines
- Excellent people management, organizational and customer service skills
- Must be able to work weekends, both Saturdays and Sundays
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Vin65, VinNow, Quickbooks POS experience a plus.
- Knowledge of shipping laws and regulations a plus.
- Must be capable of working independently, be reliable and can manage multiple tasks at once
- Must be able to lift and move 45 lbs.
- Must be detail oriented and have excellent follow-through
- Must enjoy small winery experience and working with a family-run business
